Parts of the building go back to the 15th Century.
Became a pub in 1861 and was known as ‘The Old Workhouse’ - previously a residence for Paupers.
In 1891 the present name was assumed. See ‘History’ on website above.
The pub is on the northern boundary of the Ashdown Forest, of Winnie the Pooh fame.
